Try Catch Software was founded by Tim Wardle, an experienced software developer, architect and technical leader. An overview of his journey and experience is outlined below.

Tim set up Try Catch Software with the aim of helping software companies become more effective. Drawing on his years of experience managing development teams and designing and building software products, Tim is well positioned to offer advice and guidance on project management, development best practices and software architecture.

Agile and lean principles are at the core of Tim's thinking. Through these ideas he provides a bridge between customer-focused business needs and the technologies and best practices involved in building great software.

April 2015

Click Innovation Technology Director

Tim continues to work with Click Innovation and acts as a non-executive Technology Director. In this role Tim guides the technical direction of the company and their CRM product, Lighthouse. Whilst this is a strategic role, Tim believes that staying hands-on is the best way of keeping up to date and identifying areas for improvement. As such, he can often be found fixing bugs, refactoring or designing user interfaces between regular strategic meetings with colleagues or clients.

Click Innovation Development Manager

After joining Click Innovation Tim managed a restructuring of the development department and built a team to develop a new SaaS CRM product. Lighthouse CRM was to be built on new technologies whilst continuing to utilise development best practices. Tim architected and built large parts of the Lighthouse core and delivered the product to market.

Introducing some bold changes to team behaviour such as test-driven development and pair programming, Tim created a culture of innovation and attention to detail that proved to be beneficial to productivity, quality and team morale.

Protec Innovations Technical Architect

As part of a growing team with a maturing codebase Tim moved into an architectural role to oversee all technical aspects of the business. His responsibilities included guiding technology selection, software architecture, server administration, deployment automation and encouraging development best-practices.

January 2011

Protec Innovations Lead Developer

During his time at Protec innovations, Tim was first developer on the Phase4 project, a piece of software to manage the after-sales service industry. Tim designed and built the majority of the Phase4 codebase based on the business requirements provided by the in-house industry expert. With more staff joining the team, Tim’s management role grew and saw him leading the adoption of Scrum, and later Kanban, to accommodate the changing demands a larger team placed on the Project Management process.

University of Warwick MEng in Computer Science

Whilst at the University ofWarwick Tim learnt the computer science and software engineering principles that underpin everything he knows today. This deep understanding allows him to quickly learn, understand and assess new technologies and their suitability in solving real-world problems.
